Melissa + Perry: Wedding at The Thursday Club in San Diego, CA.

When you are planning your wedding with your significant other, you envision an intimate affair filled with picturesque scenery, your closest loved ones gathered together, and personal touches representative of who you are as a couple. This momentous day is the beginning of a new chapter in your love story.

Melissa and Perry’s new chapter began in the springtime at San Diego’s exclusive The Thursday Club surrounded by their loving family and friends, breathtaking ocean views, dreamy floral designs, and candlelight that makes your heart swoon. The Thursday Club’s Spanish architecture is reminiscent of Old Hollywood glam, and is nestled in the hills of the Sunset Cliffs area in Point Loma. Bathed in blush and champagne gold, their wedding color palette exuded romance and set the tone for an elegant evening.

The wedding ceremony is a intimate occasion that you wish you could freeze in time, and capture those tender moments in your memory bank forever. As a couple, you want this cherished moment to not only be unforgettable for yourselves, you want your guests to walk away with a pocket full of love. That love pocket will definitely get its fill during a ceremony on the terraced lawn at The Thursday Club. The arched hedges create an airy and open space while your guests can gaze upon the crystalline views of the Pacific.

Melissa and Perry were such a fun couple to work with, and I loved their intent to make sure the food served was of their taste and high expectations. The superb catering staff of The Wild Thyme Company offered not only a delicious bite, the presentation was beautiful and well-crafted. As one of the biggest nights of your life, you also want the music and ambiance to suit your personalities as well.

Music sets the tone for atmosphere, and from the elegant ceremony music to the get-up-and-move tunes, Glasz Productions brought their game. Ryan and Sevy with Glass Productions were not only fun to work with, it wasn’t their first rodeo at The Thursday Club. Whenever I meet with the Venue Coordinator, I make sure to ask which DJs they recommend. Having a DJ that has worked an event at your venue is crucial to a successful night. They know the set up, and they know the drill. So be sure to ask your Event Coordinator if they have any insight on vendor recommendations before you book your DJ.

Lighting played a crucial part in this evening affair. From market lighting in the grand hall over the reception area, the soft up-lighting surrounding the hall, to the dancing glow of candlelight that graced the tables. Evening events lend themselves to many opportunities for lighting options that can truly transform a blank space into a feast for your eyes.

The floral design was an example of classic elegance. From blush toned garden roses to the soft white petals of hydrangeas, the variety of floral arrangements truly created a playful, yet sophisticated tablescape. I recommended Wholesale Flowers and Supplies to do the arrangements for this large event due to their impeccable floral options and prices. Designing a tablescape and setting up the decor is one of my favorite creative outlets. I suggested a variety of heights for the vases to create texture, but low enough that their guests could see over them during a conversation. The round tables were donned with floating flowers and candles in a low dish vase to create a freshly picked vibe. The bride’s bouquet also captured that provincial garden look, which looked absolutely stunning with her open lace back and chiffon bridal gown by BHLDN. The bridesmaids’ soft blush gowns complemented the bride’s gown style in complete lace or a lace bodice. The bridesmaids’ looks harmonized in tune with the romantic and idyllic theme of the event.

The gentlemen looked dapper in their coordinating suits offered through Menguin. The groom should always stand out, and just as the bride shines, the groom gets his pedestal too. Whether the groom wears another shade of the groomsmen’s suits, or simply changing the color of the tie or bow tie, the groom’s complete look should have a subtle or drastic difference in comparison to the groomsmen.

It is not a wedding without cake, and Melissa and Perry’s naked berry cake was something worthy of Gourmet Magazine, the European edition. The team at Flour Power Cakery created an exceptionally elegant cake that not only looked beautiful, it tasted as good as it looked.

No love story is complete without the documentation of this momentous occasion. Oh Lovely Wedding Photography captured all the beautiful and candid scenes portrayed throughout the event. When interviewing photographers you can get a sense of their personality and style to see if their ideas align with how you may picture your big day. Oh Lovely Wedding Photography froze those heartfelt moments in time for Melissa and Perry, and that is something that they will cherish forever.

As Melissa and Perry continue to write new chapters in their love story, I wish them a lifetime of love and laughter! If you are ready to write the next chapter in your love story, be sure to Contact Us!
