On 04.02.16, our friends married on the beautiful cliffs overlooking the ocean in San Diego, CA. Sunset Cliffs has sweeping, breath-taking views of the Pacific Ocean. As a major attraction, Sunset Cliffs is also home to amazing spots such as Osprey Point where you can host your wedding ceremony. I highly recommend this spot for your next wedding ceremony, because on a clear and sunny day (which is most likely in San Diego) you get goosebumps just relishing in the natural beauty.
I did not plan on recording their wedding video, but I brought my GoPro camera just in case. I’m pleased with how the wedding video turned out, and how could you not be happy after watching two lovely people marry at such a beautiful place? Take a look to see why you should plan your next wedding in San Diego! I can help you arrange, coordinate, decorate, and help you obtain permits for such a location. Creating a memorable and timeless occasion is what I can help you achieve for your big day!
When you are planning your wedding you spend numerous hours searching for the right wedding invitation. In my case, I chose to go with a design that was customizable through an online company named Minted. I gave them the CMYK Colors, thorough details, and they did the rest! Before my invite was printed, they sent me numerous proofs to approve. I highly recommend Minted, and you can read more about my experience and see all the details of our wedding invitation HERE.
After sending out the invites we had one lucky invitation left! This invite was of course going to be a keepsake of our special day. Okay, now what to do with it? Sure you can scrapbook it, file it away with other important documents, or you can have it framed!
The lovely Samantha Atlas at The Frame Maker in Mission Hills, CA., gifted us with this unique shadow box design adorned with a gilded wood frame designed by Designer Greg Strange. The gorgeous outcome was a keepsake that we can look at everyday! Why have such a beautiful memory filed away when you can have that special day on display for all to see? If you have recently wed or have been married for years, give The Frame Maker a call to see what creative design they can create for your wedding invitation!
On 7.11.14 Amy and Bryan tied the knot at The Ranch at Bandy Canyon in Escondido, CA. This serene and tranquil venue was a breathtaking backdrop for one beautiful wedding. I had the pleasure of Coordinating and help Design their special day, and was impressed with Amy’s DIY Skills for the decor leading up to the big day!
After having Amy and Bryan approve the Ceremony Arch Design, I could not wait to see the final outcome! Without further adieu, here is a compilation of a beautiful couple’s perfect wedding day, courtesy of True Photography Weddings.

Selecting your wedding gown for the BIG day, is very much like choosing your partner for life. You have to make sure you are compatible, make sure it’s the right fit; and many people ask, how do you know when it is time to say YES to the DRESS? One word: butterflies.
Getting to butterflies can be quite the challenge, and in many cases, several locations and dress options. First, you need to establish a Budget for your wedding gown. Most bridal gowns today tend to run from $800-3000 for most designers readily available in bridal boutiques in the US, and on average, most brides spend around $1250 for their gown. One way to cut down on cost is to search for pre-owned bridal gowns, or keep a look out for bridal shops in your area for Sample Sales.
Once you have established your budget, and before you even venture to a Sample Sale, you need to determine the style of gown you want. This is where compatibility and fit are most important. The best advice I was given, and that I will share with you is simply this: try on each style of gown (whether you love lace or not) to determine if you like mermaid, trumpet, fit & flare, a-line, or full ball gown. The first time I tried on wedding gowns, my heart was set on a form fitting mermaid gown. Then I tried one on, the exact one I had drooled over in magazine, and while I felt fabulous, I did not get butterflies. I was underwhlemed. It felt like a dress I would wear to a red carpet event, not down the church aisle to surprise the love of my life.
The most important fact about trying on all different styles is you can cut out a style that simply will not work, and determine which style makes you feel like a bride. You have selected a style, now it is about the little details. Bling, ruffles, texture, color and fabric are next.
Search online and in bridal magazines for the details on gowns, even if it is not the style you want. Make an appointment at your local bridal shop, and bring these aides to show your bridal consultant at your appointment. She will pull options for you, and then all 3 factors come into play. Compatibility, fit, and then this is where the butterflies come in.
You may get lucky with a Mother Fairy Consultant, and in my case, it happened to be a designer that I was obsessing over, Justin Alexander. He happened to have a trunk show at the bridal shop where I had my appointment. My consultant and Justin Alexander came up to me, and he said, “this is your gown”, and politely took the other ball gown out of my hands, and handed me her. The moment I stepped in front of the mirror with her on, I melted. I mean, butterflies to the point I was bursting out in hives and tears! This gown had all 3 factors, complete with tufts of tulle over ostrich feathers and a French corset. She was perfect. While the girls were “jacking me up” with accessories and veils, Justin Alexander personally drew a sketch of me in my gown (gasp!). I snapped a photo with him, and said YES to the DRESS!
Much like choosing your mate for life, you just know when it’s right, and you say yes.
This past weekend, some of my girlfriends and I attended the Once Gown Event held in downtown San Diego, CA. at the University Club. We were all taken away with how beautiful the event was; from the amazing gowns to the sparkling glitter runway where the Brides to Be got to strut their stuff!
Once Brides registered their wedding gowns in hopes for a new Bride to find her wedding dress, and if their dress sold, they earned 75% of the profit! While I could not let my gown go, it was a fabulous way to bring together your girlfriends and family to experience some bridal bliss.
While the champagne was flowing, Brides to Be were able to try on 3 Gowns at a time, and meet and greet with local vendors. More information here on any upcoming Once Gown Events, and if they have another event at the University Club, be sure to purchase your tickets! You will not want to miss out on the view, the gowns, oh and did I mention cupcakes and bubbles? What more could a Bride to Be ask for?
I had the pleasure of working on a beautiful wedding for a beautiful friend of mine. There was not a dry eye at the ceremony of Meredith + John, and this dreamy couple wed in the picturesque hills of Alpine, CA. Between the romantic floral arrangements and delicious Yours Truly Cupcakes, Meredith wore a Maggie Sottero gown reminiscent of a rose. I was so touched to witness two people so deeply in love cherishing every moment, and how the value of family was ever so present.
Meredith wished for a soft pink floral design for her bridal bouquet which consisted of Hydrangeas, Garden Roses, Cymbidium Orchids, and Dusty Miller. The Bridesmaids wore Navy to compliment John’s dress blues, and the subtle variation of the violet and navy hydrangeas in their bouquets brought out the color of their dresses. The romantic candelabra arrangements along with the white Manzanita Trees encrusted with Orchids & Crystals added an elegant touch. Guests were surrounded by candlelight, which set the mood after a gorgeous sunset in the hills.
I am absolutely in love with these photos by Molly Davidson Photography taken with our furry friend, Saylor the Newfoundland. If you cannot have your pet included in your wedding, forget a Trash the Dress session, and opt for a family portrait!
Taken on the cliffs of our hometown in La Jolla, CA., the ocean and our beloved Saylor are parts of our lives that are special to us as a married couple. On our wedding day, my bridal look was much more formal with my hair up, and my husband wore a tuxedo. I chose to go for a more relaxed beach inspired look with loose curls and fewer accessories for myself, while my husband kept a casual yet classic look for this shoot. You can change up your look for an after wedding shoot, and be sure to incorporate your extended furry family. You will be glad you were able to document this new chapter in your life.
