We were recently featured on Ban.do’s Blog as a Ban.do Bride! The White Flurry Pouf was a perfect match to my Justin Alexander Gown, which had ostrich feathers sewn under the tufts of tulle. The ostrich hair pouf was so magical and flowed with every move I made.
Ban.do has some of the most perfect accessories to help make your day magical as well! Here are a few of my faves that make for perfect holiday gifts too. They still offer an Ostrich pouf in this beautiful Blush as well as Mint, Hot Pink, and Charcoal. Add this piece to your hair or go for something that sparkles like this Crystal Swirl Bobbi if you are going for a vintage look. Whether your hair is in an up do or not, try a head wrap. The Double Trouble Head Wrap in Nude/Rose will definitely help you catch attention in this little number.
Holidays or not, these shoe clips would accent any solid colored shoe you wore for your wedding day or Christmas Party! The hearts and bows are my favorite, and I love how they shimmer in Gold! This sequin Boom Boom Flower Comb comes in Gold, Rose Gold, Hot Pink, and Midnight. Whether you want a unique or fun holiday look, these shiny baubles from Ban.do will top off your look with perfection!
When it comes to Kitchen Design, we incorporate elements of your preferred style and home decor to create a cohesive space. In this particular residence, the kitchen opens up to an eat in kitchen area and family room. We considered all elements of the rest of the interior which we had previously designed.
The kitchen was lightened up with new white cabinetry, and we created a focal point with Ann Sacks Ming Green installed in a Herringbone Pattern, combined with Mini White Thassos Mosaic to keep a clean and simple look. We chose to repeat the Herringbone Pattern on the floor with custom White Washed Oak Planks. The minty green color wrapped the walls in Grasscloth, and the Island incorporated a Ming Green Slab on dark cabinets. This gave the look of a piece of furniture paired with custom designed bar stools upholstered in raspberry faux Ostrich.
Our clients wanted to keep the plaid sofas, and we selected a fabric to tie in all of the colors in the house in a traditional Jacobean Print. This fabric was used for custom made cornice boxes, and tie back draperies. These were the main design elements that were utilized to create a harmonious living space.
You will notice that Before, the kitchen was dark and outdated:
The After photos reveal a much brighter, updated, and cheerful environment.

Since I was young, my grandfathers would gather my little sister and I around the fire during the holidays and tell us gallant tales of war, love, and comradeship. I always remembered thinking, could I have been as brave? From WWII stories driving a loaded tank amongst the people of his blood in Germany, to his valiant struggle saving injured soldiers and earning a Purple Heart, my Grandpa Schlueter served for the U.S. Army. The true story of love and war was told by my Grandpa Davidson when he served for the US Navy during Pearl Harbor. He met my Grandmother in Sydney, Australia, and only after knowing each other for two weeks before my Grandpa made it to Pearl Harbor, they knew. After hundreds of love letters back and forth, my Grandmother made it to America on a ship where she was to wed her sailor.
Not only do our men and women who serve their country brave war and strife, life happens. Love happens. Lifelong friendships are made. I knew that one day I would marry a man who was as brave and genuine as my grandfathers. Just as unexpected as my grandparents’ romance, love happened for us too. He was a bona fide man. You can tell when you meet a Southern Gentleman, but you can also tell when you meet someone as brave as my grandfathers. Even though my grandfathers were not able to be with us at our wedding this past summer, I know they had a hand in our meeting. I couldn’t be more proud of my Sailor, and I know they were looking out for him even before we met. God Bless all of our men and women who have served and are serving our Country, we are thinking of you today and reminding us all to be brave.
Tis the Season for Pumpkin Puree, but step away from the pies and make a healthy meal that the whole family will enjoy! Conjuring up sauces is one of my favorite things to do, and it usually starts with what I have in my pantry and fridge to play with. If you love pumpkin and creamy sauces without major calories, this Easy 3-Step Dish must be on your To-Do List! Grocery stores are lined with Pumpkin Puree and holiday favorites, so without further adieu, I give you a Pumpkin Puree Sauce that you can marry with pasta, rice, quinoa, or veggies!
12 ounces penne rigate, or other short pasta ( I had some orecchiette in the pantry, but you can prepare a gluten-free pasta, rice, or veggie option)
1/4 teaspoon red-pepper flakes for heat, plus more for garnish (optional)
1 package micro basil sprouts
Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling water until al dente. Reserve 2 cups pasta water; drain pasta and set aside.
Add pumpkin puree, garlic, almond milk, parmesan, cider vinegar, red-pepper flakes, cinnamon, 1 cup reserved pasta water, and sea salt & pepper to taste to pot. Stir sauce until heated through, 2 to 3 minutes.
Add pasta to sauce, and toss to coat. If sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water. Serve pasta sprinkled with micro basil sprouts, if desired, more red-pepper flakes.
