Maternity Photo Shoot with Molly Dillon Photography – Batiquitos Lagoon in San Diego, CA.

Before we welcome our precious little girl into the world, I wanted to capture the last moments of my pregnancy with a Maternity Photo Shoot with Molly Dillon Photography.  A woman’s body is capable of beautiful things, and it is even more amazing to experience a bond between mother and child before he or she is born.

While this pregnancy has been completely different than with my first child, the end of my third trimester is near.  It is bittersweet knowing that even though this time there have been highs and many lows, I am grateful for each growing second.

Before I became pregnant with our second daughter, we experienced many months of disappointment and a loss.  It comes without saying that a loss is something that is hard to bear, and the only way I was able to deal with it was through family, friends, and prayer.  Many healthy women experience a miscarriage, and most of the time it is unknown why it happens, but this does not make it any easier to deal.  Miscarriage can be a difficult subject for many to discuss, but the only solace one can take away from this situation is that you are not alone.

Holding onto my faith and hope for the future helped me cope with self-doubt, because I did feel a sense of guilt.  Was it my health issue, my age, my scar tissue, what???  You can torture yourself with unanswered questions.

Once I saw the two little pink lines again I held my breath for six weeks until I could get an ultrasound.  Then.  There.  It.  Was.  A strong heartbeat and a little gummy bear on the screen.  I finally could breathe a little.  I cried happy tears and sighed with relief.

From that moment on I experienced morning sickness all day long and fatigue, but I took it with stride knowing this little babe growing inside was healthy.  I won’t go into all the details of this pregnancy, but there were many scares including a brain cyst, placenta previa, vasa previa, and the possibility of a fatal birth defect.  I am scheduled for another cesarean section next month (unless she decides to show up early), and while it will be a hard recovery, it is the safest option for my baby and myself.

April is Cesarean Awareness Month, and no matter how you bring your baby into this world, you’d do anything to ensure their safety, even it means surgical intervention.  The first c section was not planned, but turned into a life or death situation.  While it was rushed and scary, I cried a sigh of relief when I saw my daughter for the first time.  Hearing that cry was music to my ears!

While it is hard to be patient when you are nervous and scared, I am finally settling into these last days with hope.  Hope that everything will go smoothly, and I am simply focusing on holding my sweet girl in my arms.  Sharing these photos is special to me, and represents how this journey has shaped me as a woman and a mother.  This little babe completes our family, and we are so ready to be a family of four as soon as you are my darling.

P.S. Both of these handmade Floral Crowns are available for purchase at Forever Les Fleurs!

Newborn Photo Shoot : Cosette Enjolie

We welcomed our new bundle of joy on 1.20.15, and we could not be more in love with her! Our sweet newborn baby girl is named Cosette Enjolie, and we worked with Taplin Photo on a Newborn Photo Shoot when she was around two weeks old to capture all of her newborn goodness. We also worked with Taplin Photo for our Maternity Shoot that you can view here. We had such a blast with Emily, and we were so thrilled to work with her again!

Captured in her nursery, these are the most treasured photos we own. Simplistic and beautiful, we will cherish these images, and I cannot wait to share them with Cosette when she is older. Here are a few of my favorites from that day, and I highly recommend Taplin Photo for your Newborn or Family Photo Shoot!

Prisonher Sparkles for the Holidays!

If you are looking to turn heads this Holiday Season, wearing an eye-catching statement piece will certainly do the trick!  Look to Prisonher Jewelry for all your sparkly needs to pair with all your holiday dresses!  Unwrap the Savings with a Special Christmas Discount upon Checkout!

You can start a Wish List now, or go for the gold and make your own purchase for yourself and all the girls in your life.  I own a couple of Prisonher pieces made by my friend, Owner & Designer, Helen Shelden.  Her use of Swarovski Crytsals and precious stones & metals make for a unique and fabulous, eye-catching accessory to compliment a dressed up or dressed down ensemble. Prisonher. Captivating one “her” at a time.  Turning heads. Stopping you in the street. “Girl, where did you get that?!” One “her” at a time.  For the good girls and bad alike.

Here is a peek of the Prisonher Collection, and some of my favorites include The Summer Solstice that sparkles in the sun, and the major statement piece that does not need further introduction as The Queen.

The artist in me has a crush on this Rope & Rider Turquoise Necklace which is reminiscent of a dream catcher, and I love the Toggle Clasp in front.

Prisonher Jewelry is not only made by hand, Helen can customize any of her pieces by changing out the bead colors, but the custom options do not stop there.  I wanted to give my Maid of Honor something special that would compliment her “Pippa Dress”.  My MOH’s Badgley Mischka dress was a floor length gown drenched in gold sequins, and this show stopping frock needed a simple, yet elegant necklace.

I loved the kitchy idea of having a Bow Necklace that was accompanied by the tagline, “Thank you for helping me Tie the Knot!”. I approached Helen with the idea of a dainty and simple Bow Necklace, and she created a Gold Bow Necklace out of Gold Wire, Gold Chain, and a Gold Toggle Clasp.  Not only is this something my MOH could wear on the regular, it did not over power her gown, and looked oh so pretty on her! Prisonher donned this beauty the MOH, and I encourage all you brides to reach out to Helen for your Bridal Party Gifts!

A Veteran’s Tale

Since I was young, my grandfathers would  gather my little sister and I around the fire during the holidays and tell us gallant tales of war, love, and comradeship.  I always remembered thinking, could I have been as brave?  From WWII stories driving a loaded tank amongst the people of his blood in Germany, to his valiant struggle saving injured soldiers and earning a Purple Heart, my Grandpa Schlueter served for the U.S. Army.  The true story of love and war was told by my Grandpa Davidson when he served for the US Navy during Pearl Harbor.  He met my Grandmother in Sydney, Australia, and only after knowing each other for two weeks before my Grandpa made it to Pearl Harbor, they knew.  After hundreds of love letters back and forth, my Grandmother made it to America on a ship where she was to wed her sailor.

Not only do our men and women who serve their country brave war and strife, life happens.  Love happens.  Lifelong friendships are made.  I knew that one day I would marry a man who was as brave and genuine as my grandfathers.  Just as unexpected as my grandparents’ romance, love happened for us too.  He was a bona fide man.  You can tell when you meet a Southern Gentleman, but you can also tell when you meet someone as brave as my grandfathers.  Even though my grandfathers were not able to be with us at our wedding this past summer, I know they had a hand in our meeting.  I couldn’t be more proud of my Sailor, and I know they were looking out for him even before we met.  God Bless all of our men and women who have served and are serving our Country, we are thinking of you today and reminding us all to be brave.
