DIY Glitter Dipped Champagne Bottles

Not only are these DIY Glitter Dipped Champagne Bottles perfect for the New Year, they make fabulous hostess and shower gifts too! I recently made these sparkly champagne splits for my Baby Shower as a gift for the prize winners, but they are oh so easy to make for the holidays too.

You can use full size Champagne or Sparkling Cider Bottles, but in this case I bought a pack of Champagne Splits, which look pretty wrapped in cellophane treat bags tied up with string! I hot glued a starfish on the bow and paired the gift with seashell chocolates for a nod to my Mermaid Themed Baby Shower. You can add your own little decorative touch, such as a gold paper party horn to ring in the New Year at a New Year’s Party!

Check out my Post on How To DIY these sparklers, and the only addition I made to the design itself was adding the Pink Glitter on the bottom first :: You want to only spread the glue on the bottle about an inch or two from the bottom, and then apply the pink glitter before you smear on the rest of the glue to add the gold glitter. Use the glitter color of your choice, and serve chilled!

DIY Floral Crown Headpiece

Perfect for Weddings, Baby Showers, Parties, or Photo Shoots, a floral crown adds a simple yet beautiful statement to any ensemble. Made with real flowers and foliage, this natural and whimsy DIY Floral Crown is so easy to accomplish, just follow these Three Easy Steps!

I made this Floral Crown for my Baby Shower, and then switched out the dahlias for new ones for our Maternity Shoot the next day! (Photos from our maternity shoot to be revealed soon!)

DIY Floral Crown Steps:

Pick up Green Floral Wire Stems, Green Floral Tape, Green Foliage & a small Bouquet of your favorite flower ( I chose Pink Dahlias) plus a secondary, complimentary flower (I chose Baby’s Breath).

You will need floral shears or scissors to cut your flowers. Cut the flowers down to a 2″ Stem, and cut the long green foliage near the bottom (discarding the thicker, woody stem).

Intertwine 2 Green Wires together, making 2 thicker Green Wires. Then Intertwine the thicker green wires. Measure around your head with the wires to get the right size and then join them together. Wrap Green Floral Tape around the entire Wire Crown to prevent the wire from catching onto your hair.

Add the Green Foliage, wrapping it around your crown. I used 2 stems of this Green Foliage, and secure with Green Floral Tape in a few key areas.floral crown step two-Darcy Oliver Design

Pick a side where you would like the Flowers on your crown. Then take the largest of the blooms, and secure that flower closer to your ear. You will then build out towards your temple, gently covering the stems and tape with the blooms as you tuck them behind each other.

Voila! You are ready to wear your Floral Crown! If the flowers deem to be too heavy, you can pinch the wires at the back of your head for a more snug fit. Lay flat in your refrigerator until you are ready to wear your floral crown!

Bridal Party Gifts: Origami Owl

At a recent Bridal Show I discovered Living Lockets made by Origami Owl, and thought these would be great Bridal Party Gifts!  Either from the Bride to her Bridal Party, Mother & Mother-In-Law, or Bridal Party to the Bride!  They are clear Lockets filled with charms and plates that you get to personalize and design with different chain styles.  I fell in love with the rose gold locket and chains, looked so pretty on skin and rose gold is so often overlooked!

I loved the idea of picking a charm that is the color of your wedding, one that is personal to you, and one that is specific to the person who will be receiving the gift.  There are so many options to chose from, and the lockets are really well made.  Perfect for any wedding keepsake!

Get in touch with Hayley Lewis for all your Origami Owl needs, you never know, you may even want one for yourself or have someone in mind for Christmas!
