Wedding season is upon us, and if you want to give a creative bridal shower or wedding gift consider Custom Wine Labels. I came across a custom wedding wine label gift idea that represents a marriage milestone in the couple’s relationship. With the Photoshop magic by my sister, Molly Dillon, we incorporated their magical engagement photos taken at Joshua Tree by Montana Dennis. Along with a sweet milestone poem, the photos add a personal and memorable touch.
When each important milestone occurs in the couple’s marriage, they pop the cork and celebrate with a glass…or bottle of wine! From a bottle to drink on their Wedding Night, to their First Big Purchase, to Baby Makes Three, it is a nice little reminder that even though the wedding reception may be over, the love they have for each other on any old day deserves to celebrated too. Cheers to Mr. + Mrs. DiPirro-Beard, wishing you both a lifetime of firsts together as a family!
Our Little Mermaid has recently made her debut, but I will always remember my baby shower as a magical and beautiful day shared with family and dear friends. Dusted in gold, blush, and peach this dreamy Baby Shower was a splendid way to celebrate our Little Mermaid on the way!
A lot of the mermaid baby shower decor was also incorporated into Cosette’s Nursery, so thoughtful planning went into multipurpose pieces such as this Tassel Garland made by BlushBazaar on Etsy! I found the Mermaid Sign at Home Goods, but did a little DIY action and repainted it Gold with a little Gold Glitter for sparkle. I used only the best Gold Spray paint: Design Master 24 KT Gold. From the coral cake topper to the Oyster Pearl Cookies made by my sweet friend Danielle, mermaid flair was everywhere!
Every mermaid also wears her pearls, and it is not a baby shower without games, so we played the “Don’t Say Baby” Game with a strand of pearls for each guest. Who ends up with the most strands wins! Another fun game provided by my dear friend Samantha, is the “What’s in Your Purse?” Game. This was a great one to play during lunch when everyone is sitting down with their purses, and to gear it towards baby, you can add items like baby wipes, diapers, or binkies! Each item is worth a certain amount of points, and whoever has the most items in their purse, wins! The prizes were DIY Glitter Champagne Bottles and Seashell Chocolates fit for a mermaid.
Another fun and memorable Baby Shower idea is to send a little poem in the invitation that encourages your guest to bring a new or used Children’s Book instead of a card. The books were filled with sweet notes to Cosette, and she will be reminded of them each time we read to her. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate our Little Mermaid!
We welcomed our new bundle of joy on 1.20.15, and we could not be more in love with her! Our sweet newborn baby girl is named Cosette Enjolie, and we worked with Taplin Photo on a Newborn Photo Shoot when she was around two weeks old to capture all of her newborn goodness. We also worked with Taplin Photo for our Maternity Shoot that you can view here. We had such a blast with Emily, and we were so thrilled to work with her again!
Captured in her nursery, these are the most treasured photos we own. Simplistic and beautiful, we will cherish these images, and I cannot wait to share them with Cosette when she is older. Here are a few of my favorites from that day, and I highly recommend Taplin Photo for your Newborn or Family Photo Shoot!
We welcomed our Little Mermaid on 1.20.15, and during her long awaited arrival I was hard at work on her Mermaid Themed Nursery. A lot of the decor was used at the Mermaid Themed Baby Shower (photos coming soon), and the most important plan was to maximize the space. The master bedroom turned nursery was thoughtfully planned out with multipurpose pieces combined with hidden storage.
The vintage pieces used such as the long dresser house her clothes, diapers, and linens while also acting as a changing table. I set up a canvas basket that was a gift at my baby shower as her diaper changing station, and simply placed the changing pad on top of the dresser. Her vintage inspired Jenny Lind crib is smaller in scale compared the larger and bulkier cribs that you may see at most baby stores. The space under the crib is valuable space. Purchase long, plastic containers at Target or Walmart to store clothes, diapers, wipes, and linens, and you can store 3 of these containers under the crib.
Her bassinet by the bed is where she sleeps until she is ready to be transitioned into her crib, and I cannot express how nice it is to have her close by for nighttime feedings in bed. During the daytime I nurse her in our reclining swivel Glider from Babies R Us, and this 3 Tiered Cart is perfect for storing burp cloths, bibs, nursing pads, and her accessories in cute boxes that store perfectly in this cart from IKEA. Having items accessible while you are nursing is key to relaxing while bonding with your baby.
I carefully chose items that she can grow into, and I did not buy into the matchy matchy crib bedding. I simply chose items that complimented the vintage style, and purchased a soft mint throw blanket and throw pillows at Home Goods. Have fun with your baby’s nursery, and functional pieces can also be stylish!
Not only are these DIY Glitter Dipped Champagne Bottles perfect for the New Year, they make fabulous hostess and shower gifts too! I recently made these sparkly champagne splits for my Baby Shower as a gift for the prize winners, but they are oh so easy to make for the holidays too.
You can use full size Champagne or Sparkling Cider Bottles, but in this case I bought a pack of Champagne Splits, which look pretty wrapped in cellophane treat bags tied up with string! I hot glued a starfish on the bow and paired the gift with seashell chocolates for a nod to my Mermaid Themed Baby Shower. You can add your own little decorative touch, such as a gold paper party horn to ring in the New Year at a New Year’s Party!
Check out my Post on How To DIY these sparklers, and the only addition I made to the design itself was adding the Pink Glitter on the bottom first :: You want to only spread the glue on the bottle about an inch or two from the bottom, and then apply the pink glitter before you smear on the rest of the glue to add the gold glitter. Use the glitter color of your choice, and serve chilled!

In the spirit of the Christmas Season, we attended our friend’s Annual Christmas Cookie Party! Not only did I have fun making these decadent No Bake Cookie Dough Truffles, it was such a treat to taste all the other cookies and confections at the party. You can make these Truffles year round, and freeze them until you are ready to serve and eat. These are seriously sinful, but the best part is you can eat Cookie Dough without fear of getting sick with this egg-less cookie dough recipe. Try out this easy peasy recipe, and let me know what you think!
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (for dipping)
- 1 teaspoon of shortening for chocolate dipping sauce
- Line a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with waxed paper; set aside. In a medium bowl beat butter, brown sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed until combined. Beat in flour just until combined. Stir in chocolate pieces. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place on prepared baking pan. Cover; freeze about 30 minutes or until firm.
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan heat chopped chocolate, candy coating, and shortening over low heat, stirring until until melted and smooth. Remove from heat. (I actually microwaved my chocolate and shortening mixture in a ceramic mixing bow for 30 seconds, stirred, and repeated until the chocolate lumps were gone and mixture was creamy and smooth.)
- Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. Using a toothpick (I used a boutonniere pin hehe), dip balls into chocolate mixture, allowing excess chocolate mixture to drip back into saucepan. Place dipped balls on the baking sheet. Lightly drizzle with a fork the remaining melted chocolate mixture. Let stand or cover and chill about 30 minutes or until set. I froze mine until I was ready to bring to the party, or you can freeze them and eat for a cold chocolate indulgence!
Not only have I been dreaming about this day forever, I am so blown away with the dreamy images Taplin Photo captured of my husband, baby bump, and I on the beaches of La Jolla, CA. A little mermaid is on her way, and my love for mermaids and the ocean inspired this Maternity Photo Shoot. We are so blessed to live in such a magical place, and I cannot wait to share my love for the beach and marine life with our daughter!
These memorable images of a special time in our lives will be cherished for years to come, and I highly recommend Taplin Photo to capture your memories as well! Not only did Emily Taplin graduate from the same school as my talented sister Molly Dillon Photography, she is so much fun to do a photo shoot with! Emily Taplin puts you at ease, and she will capture all the laughs and smiles along the way.
